The result is an exceptional work with a personal and unique style. The secret of my success is “the passion for the events I cover, the desire to innovate and make a difference”, to the point of turning my photos into artworks.”

THE BEGINNINGS IN RALLIES

Miquel started his career in motor photography by chance when he was a child accompanying his brother to watch rallies near his hometown, always with a camera in his hand. This led him to develop a passion for racing and motor photography, and he became self-taught by attending different international events during his vacations and studying at the “Institut d’Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya” for 3 years. After receiving a good reception for his work in different media and brands, he decided to dedicate himself completely to racing photography at the end of the 90s.

INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS, CAPTURING FORMULA 1

Miquel Liso became an internationally recognized photographer in 2014, following the publication of his book “Formula 1. Images with a message”. Building on his success, he experimented and created a graphically innovative project called “Slow Speed in Racing”. Currently, Liso is dedicated exclusively to this project and does not work on commissions in Formula 1. His work is published in specialized magazines and international sports press, and has the recognition of drivers, team managers and other important actors in the world of Formula 1. Liso seeks a personal and distinctive vision of racing as a source of inspiration for his work.

He looks like a regular guy, an inhabitant of the paddock, but he has a very special character. When you look at Miquel straight in the eye, often it gives the impression that he is thinking of something else. He does not look crazy, but the captain who seeks a storm to plunge into it.

As a photographer, he is not a voyeur, but a hunter. Miquel does not wait for things to happen in front of him, but he pushes forward them. You can follow his steps, use the same cameras, focus on the same cars, shoot at the same time than him and repeat his movements… Then you go back to the media room, download your photos and to your surprise, you see things in his pictures that have not seen anywhere and realize that he has been able to see what you were never even able to imagine. The light was the same, but a different reality; he has the ability to invent what does not exist, and there are not many photographers in the races that are able to do this. Miquel did not choose to be in the races but the races chose him, not for nothing the first race he saw was when he was only six years old because the classic ‘Rally 2000 Viratges’ made his exit under the balcony of his house. After this, came his first camera, the first rally, working for Seat, the WTCC and finally the Formula 1.

At the circuits, his hunting territory, Miquel captures a handful of lights, shadows and reflections with his invisible hand. He arms the puzzle inside his head and give us back a two-dimensional product, a piece of frozen time that can only be labeled as ART.
